This project began with memories. The work took shape through conversations, questions and discoveries.

Over the past months, colours, layers, proportions, threads and structures all emerged through reflection, experimentation and countless decisions.
Nothing in the installation was placed by chance. Each element was developed to translate lived experience into visual form.

What Lies Beneath is the second chapter in our ongoing mother-daughter collaboration.
This work looks back at a life shared between us, shaped by closeness, distance, memory, silence and the ways we experienced the same moments differently over time.
As we build this exhibit, we keep returning to the idea that relationships are not only formed through what is spoken aloud, but also through what remains underneath the surface.
Over the next few weeks, we’ll be sharing fragments of the process, materials, and reflections behind the work as the project takes shape.

My installation, « Through Our Eyes » traces the evolution of perspective between mother and daughter, beginning with my own iris and ending with Lia’s. Between them lie the words, values, and intentions I passed on—an intimate reflection on influence, independence, and the complex dance of motherhood.

This piece tells the story of the journey from my own view of the world to my daughter Lia’s—how my influence shaped her vision and how she’s forged her own.
